6th July 2012 - Southampton Gets Funding for 6 PHP patients

We have just been told that the liver treatment PHP (Percutaneous Hepatic Perfusion) is now available at Southampton Hospitals NHS Trust.  More info on our Cancer That Has Spread page.

CURE OM Patient and Caregiver Symposium

On 16th and 17th June, Kathryn attended the inaugural patient and caregiver symposium from the MRF's new programme - CURE OM.  The event entitled "Eyes on a Cure" was held at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, home of the Kimmel Cancer Centre where Takami Sato heads up a team of ocular melanoma experts.  There were some very well known speakers including James Pingpank from the University of Pittsburgh, Evan Lipson from Johns Hopkins and Scott Woodman from MD Anderson.  Kathryn will be giving a report of the meeting at the OcuMel UK conference in Reading in September.

4th November 2011: Jurassic Coast Run DVD available now!

On 7th August 2011, members of the UK's premier biking forum took part in the "Jurassic Coast Run 2011" in aid of OcuMel UK.  The group have already raised well over £1000 and they haven't finished yet!
 
The event was a great success with o
ver 100 riders and 18 marshalls taking part.  The group have produced a fantastic DVD capturing all the excitement and action of the day and there are a few copies left which have now been made available to us.

31st October 2011:  Cure OM Launch

The Melanoma Research Foundation has today announced a new initiative - CURE OM.  The aim of the initiative is to
advance research, provide educational resources and facilitate support for people affected by ocular melanoma. 

This is an incredibly exciting development for the ocular melanoma community, and OcuMel UK are fully supportive of the project.
